CBD, THE FUTURE OF WESTERN MEDICINE

For years Western society has considered marijuana and its derivatives as a harmful drug, but the trend is changing thanks to studies and scientific advances that have been made available to the general population over the years, especially in regards to the therapeutic uses of this ancient plant and its derivatives, both for humans and for horses, pets and animals in general..

In this first meeting, we are going to tell you what CBD (phytocannabinoids) consists of and how it can improve the quality of life for us and our horses and pets.

First of all, we have to differentiate that CBD is not synonymous with marijuana. CBD is a chemical component of the cannabis sativa plant, but it does not have psychotropic or intoxicating properties. What is commonly known as marijuana or cannabis is a plant that has various chemical components. One of them, even the most important in terms of its prevalence in the plant, is CBD.

This chemical compound is highly effective for the treatment of chronic pain, anxiety in adults, for the treatment of nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy, to improve spasticity symptoms of multiple sclerosis. Also, various scientific studies show that within its therapeutic qualities we can count on anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antioxidant, anxiolytic, antipsychotic, antitumor, antihypertensive, antiemetic, neuroprotective, immunomodulatory and antiepileptic properties.

When CBD enters the body, it acts on the endocannabinoid system (ECS). This system, like any other system in an organism, is a complex network of molecular signaling and intercellular communication. It is similar to a neurotransmission system, although it is much more, since it is found in virtually all tissues and organs of the body and not exclusively in the brain as was initially believed. Basically, it is a biological system of the human and animal body, as well as the nervous system or the immune system and, unlike the others, the ECS is not limited to a specific physiological function, but is responsible for maintaining balanced the different metabolic processes of the organism finely controlling the dynamic processes that underlie other systems in order to optimize bodily functions. In other words, the ECS is an active and complex system that is responsible for maintaining the body's homeorhesis.

At GEM we focus on the commercialization of CBD for equines, pets and other animals. Some of the benefits that we can list when CBD is supplied to these beautiful animals are to reduce stress and anxiety, to reduce pain and inflammation, to treat gastric ulcers and digestive problems, to promote a healthy, soft coat and bright, to reduce skin conditions, relieve allergies, stimulate appetite, to improve, regulate and protect the nervous, immune and cardiovascular systems.

CBD is highly effective in treating multiple ailments in horses, any other animal, and even in humans. Far from being a dangerous drug, CBD certainly promises to be the future of Western medicine once it becomes mainstream. Its therapeutic properties have been corroborated over several years and more and more people are recommending it for the treatment of chronic ailments and diseases.

You may be wondering if the use of CBD is legal. Although the legislation of each country varies regarding the cultivation, possession and distribution of marijuana, as far as the use of CBD for therapeutic purposes is concerned, it is legal in the United States.
In our next meeting we will delve into how CBD can improve the quality of life of equines, detailing its therapeutic properties for these animals in particular. Until then!
